The class focuses on posture, building muscle, endurance, dealing with daily tasks and proper breathing practices. If you have a respiratory condition and would like to maintain your social and physical activity, this exercise class could be for you. Better Breathing was designed for persons with COPD.
This class provides gentle exercises which will improve your general health and breathing. A typical exercise session consists of:
- Slow warm-ups involving stretching and breathing control.
- Mild muscular strength and endurance work involving the arms, legs, and abdominal muscles.
- Cooling down period with additional relaxation and breathing exercises.
Many of the exercises are performed while sitting in a chair, and individuals are encouraged to work at their own fitness level. Heart rate and breathing are monitored periodically during the class. If you are interested, check with your physician to be certain this class is right for you.
