The Carson City Senior Center is hosting a fundraising opportunity to raise $10,000 for the Meals on Wheels program. Every cent donated to Meals on Wheels will be doubled by the generosity of John McDougall of the Pay It Forward Project Fund, held at the Parasol Tahoe Community Foundation, with a maximum matching grant of $5,000.
Meals on Wheels delivers over 100,000 meals to local Carson City seniors who are at risk of going hungry and are no longer able to cook for themselves or shop for groceries, commonly due to a medical or physical hardship that makes those routine tasks very challenging. Not only does Meals on Wheels provide nutritious meals every day of the year, but our dedicated team of delivery drivers also give a friendly and warm “hello” to many homebound seniors who have no family or daily contact with others. Our drivers complete a welfare check during each delivery making sure our most vulnerable seniors are doing okay. Deliveries have saved the lives of many seniors who were found in medical distress during a visit, and in need of immediate medical attention. Meals on Wheels provides a vital service to the Carson City community.
